The human body is amazing and weird. There are parts that need extra care, and some that seem to be there for no reason at all. No matter what, we only get one body, so we have to be sure to take good care of it.
This is where hacks come in. Who doesn’t like a good life hack? Or cooking hack. Or any other kind of hack that comes to mind.
You might find some tips and tricks on this list to adopt into your daily routine. I find them fascinating and plan to incorporate as many as possible.
1. Stop a sneeze with this trick
Don’t you hate the feeling of an impending sneeze? I know I do! That crazy tickle that can’t be stopped. The build up and almost sneezes that happen 4, 5, 6 times before the main event sends spit and mucous spraying everywhere around you. If you want to stop that pesky feeling, the solution is simple. All you have to do is give yourself a finger mustache, and press down a bit. Easy, right? I can’t wait to try it.
2. Brain Freeze Fix
Who hasn’t been plowing their way through a giant ice cream cone or a sweet blue raspberry slush and been stopped in their tracks by the dreaded brain freeze? It’s a horrible feeling and nothing seems to make it better other than just waiting it out. There is such a simple hack for that, you’re going to be so surprised. The next time the most vile of all feelings starts up, simply press your tongue into the roof of your mouth and press it upwards. Instant relief. I don’t know how it works, but it does!
3. Touch your toes with ease
If you’re having trouble getting in a good stretch to touch your toes, never fear. All you have to do is read a paragraph backwards and you’ll be touching fingertips to tips of toes in no time! So weird, but so true. Try it!
4. Drain your nose
Having a horrible cold and not being able to breathe is the absolute worst. Sometimes it’s so bad that you can’t blow hard enough, or suck in with enough force to dislodge any of that nasty stuff clogging up your entire face. Your head is pounding, you can’t taste your food, but most importantly, you cannot breathe! Try this simple trick next time and you won’t be waiting to exhale any longer! Press your tongue to the roof of your mouth press between your eyebrows to relieve all of your congestion. How neat!
5. Hear Better In a loud place
If you’re ever tried to have a conversation with someone in a loud room, you have likely had a hard time picking up everything they were saying. You probably cupped your hand over your ear to try to hear them better, but it just doesn’t work very well. They this neat hack next time. Press down on your tragus. What is that, you ask? The little flap at the from of your ear that covers the opening. When you press it, it cancels out the peripheral sounds.
6. No more heartburn
If you suffer from heartburn at night, you know how miserable it can be. The tossing and turning. The getting up and down to eat antacid after antacid. The burning in your throat and the sheer fact that you can’t sleep for anything. The solution is simple. Lay on your left side and try to stay there. It’s the least likely position to allow your stomach acid travel up your esophagus and keep you up all night.
7. Stop a nosebleed
Nosebleeds can be super annoying. If you have ever had one, you might have been instructed to lean your head back until it stops. That actually just causes it to run down your throat. To stop the flow next time, lean forward slightly and pinch the bridge of your nose, right above your nostrils for about five minutes. You’ll see that it works much better.
8. Ease Anxiety
If you suffer from the debilitating effects of anxiety, I’m sorry. It’s such a bad feeling when everything seems so crazy and you can’t breathe or think straight. This hack might seem crazy, but it helps a lot. The next time you feel the symptoms creeping up, just place your thumb in your mouth and blow into it. Feel the tightness and panic ease off.
9. Burning mouth cure
Sometimes we get impatient and eat something that’s too hot and instantly regret it. Mouth on fire. Tongue burning. You’ll never be able to taste anything again because you’ve singed off all of your tastes buds. It’s inevitable. It happens often. Prepare yourself for it the next time by keeping some cold water near you. Swishing immediately will not only ease the pain, but it will also help keep down any inflammation and swelling.
10. Hiccup no more
Hiccups are the bane of my existence. I hate few things more than a bout of hiccups that just pop up and ruin a perfectly good day. Everyone has heard to look up at the ceiling and swallow water, or maybe standing on your head as a way to get rid of them, but this hack works even better. Next time you are plagued by hick ups take a very deep breath, swallow twice, and then breathe out through your nose. Problem solved!
12. Song Stuck in Your Head
If you ever get a song stuck in your head and it just won’t get out, chew gum! Or not…. depends on the song, right? The song will be gone in a little while.
